DEAR EMMETT
There is something so special about you. I knew it from the moment I found out about your life. Your sweet little life growing inside me! And now here you are, melting my heart everyday with your loving coo's and constant smile. I know that all I have to do is look at you and I am guaranteed a smile.
What makes you so happy? I can't figure out why you seem to enjoy each moment of life so much. you never get mad, or have a time when you are so fussy that I can't at least talk with you and get you to smile. It can't be that I am a good mom, because there are times when I have to leave you to clean the house, or not feed you on time because I have to help your sister, or mess with your nap schedule because of errands. You still will smile under all of these situations.
Its not just me that you save the smiles for. The strangers in the grocery store line sure like them, as well as your Grandpa who holds you every Friday night. You just sit in his lap and watch football. When he looks down you smile. It doesn't matter who holds you. If they look at you, and eye contact happens, you will smile.
The only time you ever cry is if you are left alone. You don't really cry when you are hungry, you just suck on your fists and grunt a bit. You don't cry when you are sleepy, just get a bit whinny. The only time you truly cry is if you are not being held or talked to you. If you are awake, I know that you need me to devote my attention to you. When you do cry its an easy fix. I just have to look at you and smile. You instantly smile back.

I think about your little personality. I think about how I got so lucky to have a little guy like you, especially at this time in my life when things are a bit hard with not having your dad around. I am so grateful for your sweet heart and loving smiles. You teach me everyday patients. Patients comes when you cry and I realize that it is not a quick fix by giving you a bottle or a quick diaper change. Your cry can only be stopped by me putting aside whatever it was I was doing and holding you. Not just holding you but engaging with you. From you I learn that sometimes in life you need to forget about the hustle and bustle, the cooking and cleaning and just enjoy holding a baby.
You are funny! You have the cutest little chuckle and it makes our home the best place in the whole world to be. The sound of your laughter is the best sound.
Along with your smiles comes your easy going, doesn't matter personality. You are one chill baby. It doesn't matter if your bath water is a bit to hot, perhaps to cold. It doesn't matter if the music is to loud. You could care less who holds you. The other day I accidentally spilled a mug of ice water all over you. I was trying to take a drink and hold you at the same time. After it spilled I thought for sure you would scream. It was so cold! So sudden! You just let out a little gasp and then gave me a smile.
The only things in your life that are a must...
1. Bottle has to be room temperature.
2. Your arms have to be restrained before you will sleep
3. You have to have someone with you at all times.
Other then that, anything goes!
I guess what it comes down to is this.....Emmett Bailey....You are one amazing dude!
And I love being your Mom!
